Text gradient without outlines conversion - Illustrator CS4

Here's a quick tip if you are trying to apply a gradient to text in Illustrator CS4. Gradients on text look great, but wouldn't it be nice if we could keep the text edit-ability and apply a gradient? In illustrator CS4 you can. Simply apply a fill in the appearance panel and choose your gradient from the library or make your own.

You can also apply multiple fills by dragging the fill in the appearance panel to the new icon at the bottom. This works with strokes as well. You can change the opacity of each fill or stroke individually as well as the order in which they appear.

That's it for this quick tip, give it a try.
