Coming from an artistic family, I became interested in the arts at a relatively young age. My passion resides in creative thinking and imagination, for with it anything is possible. I do not set out to merely recreate Mother Nature in my art (photography included). One cannot help but struggle to create mediocre copies of God's magnificence as the grandeur of reality is incapable of being replicated on a two dimensional area. No image, for example, can reproduce the feeling one gets from standing on a mountain top amidst the panoply of fall foliage with the smell of crisp autumn air rushing about one's head unless you've been there, in which case the image can stir powerful emotions from your memory. That is what I try to invoke. I generally endeavor to focus on a particular mood or message in my art. If I had to choose a favorite medium it would likely be oils, but only by the thinnest of margins. I like the blending capabilities of oil paints with their very smooth gradients and natural softness. In photography, birds are my subject of choice. Small birds such as warblers are extremely challenging in both focus and subject isolation, but also fun and colorful, while the larger birds such as eagles and herons are grand and majestic.
I hope you enjoy my work and are able to glean some helpful hints from the blog. Most the art work shown is for sale, so if you would like a print or original work of art, please don't hesitate to contact me using the box to the right.
